Backyard Birds

A Poem

Shadow cast, spoilers flash,
Eyes skyward then earthed
Through green and brown,
Past fellows and foe;
Wormed belly and branches owned.
Scorching sun and drenching falls,
Heat and chill as one.
Still time for play
From nest to dale.
Garden owner smiles,
Beware the bewhiskered tail!
Be they drab or bright,
Be they heavy or light,
The air is their grace
Their footfall,
A delight.
